Between Water and Sky

I took a picture of the Buffalo in Yellowstone National Park, but I did not want to just paint it. I wanted to show how tough they are and in order to do so I used different textures: palm tree bark, hornet’s nest that I had gathered. I chose pictures of water, clouds, pebbles, birds and tree bark details that I had taken in the Greater Yellowstone Area  and printed them on various paper. The river is made of clouds, and the sky with its birds is made of water. I took the pictures of the birds flying against a backdrop of rushing water at the dam’s spillway in Grand Teton National Park. The large round pebble in the foreground showed a light and shadow pattern that looked like a face. I love the surrealist element it adds to the story.
